1st day
Arrival in Interlaken or Grindelwald by train 2nd class from the Swiss border or any Swiss airport. It is your choice between these two Alpine towns at time of booking. Overnight at either destination.
2nd day
Excursion from Interlaken up to the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. From Interlaken Ost the train takes you via Lauterbrunnen (change of trains) and Wengen to the Kleine Scheidegg, at the foot of the famous Eiger North Wall.
The Jungfrau Railway takes you up to the Jungfraujoch – at 3454 m/11’333 ft the highest railway station in Europe.
Breathtaking views of the Aletsch Glacier, the longest glacier in the Alps. Overnight in Interlaken or Grindelwald.
3rd day
Travel through the wonderfully scenic Bernese Oberland and the new Lotschberg Tunnel to Brig, in the heart of the Rhone Valley. From Brig the traintakes you into Italy and the Centovalli route to the southern canton of Ticino. Your destination is either Lugano or Locarno, again, its your choice.
Alternatively you could take the train back to Lucerne and across the Gotthard Pass region to Ticino. Overnight in Lugarno or Locarno.
4th day
A day at leisure. Several attractive excursion opportunities are available, such as Lake Lugano/Lake Maggiore cruise, Swissminiatur, Your Switzerland Special ticket entitles you to 50% off local rail travel. Overnight in Lugarno or Locarno
5th day
Return to Swiss border or airport or continue your stay in Switzerland at your own request. |
